Manchester United are a club the public loves to back for action, so I wanted to see whether their games actually produce more corners than the league around them. I went through 798 Premier League matches from 2005/06โ2025/26 with full corner counts. This file sits alongside my corner line predictions page as the reference I check before any United match.
The short answer is no. United games averaged 10.53 total corners against 10.72 in the league's other 7,182 matches, and over 9.5 landed in 57.4% of United games against 61.2% elsewhere. That gap is small, but it runs in the same direction at every line, and that matters when a price assumes United equals entertainment.
Exhibit AUnited trail the league average at every line
This chart sets United's over rate against the rest of the Premier League at four half-lines. The dot for United sits to the left of the league dot every time: 68.5% against 72.2% at over 8.5, 57.4% against 61.2% at over 9.5, 48.0% against 49.7% at over 10.5, and 36.8% against 38.6% at over 11.5.
The bars show the 95% range around United's rate, roughly three to three and a half points either way. At 9.5 the gap is โ3.8 points, which is about the width of that range, so it is the line where I trust the difference most. At 10.5 the gap shrinks to โ1.7 points and sits well inside the noise.
League average = all other matches in the same seasons. Bars show 95% range for the club rate.

| Premier League average | Manchester United games | 95% range | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Over 8.5 (798 games) | 72.2% | 68.5% | ยฑ3.2 |
| Over 9.5 (798 games) | 61.2% | 57.4% | ยฑ3.4 |
| Over 10.5 (798 games) | 49.7% | 48.0% | ยฑ3.5 |
| Over 11.5 (798 games) | 38.6% | 36.8% | ยฑ3.3 |
What I take from this is that United's corner profile is lopsided rather than high. They won 5.93 corners per game and conceded 4.60, so much of the action comes from one end. Opponents who sit deep against United rarely win many corners of their own, and that keeps the total down.
Exhibit BFair prices put the 9.5 under at 2.35
The table turns each rate into a fair price, which is simply 1 divided by how often the outcome happened, with no bookmaker margin. Over 9.5 is fair at 1.74 and under 9.5 at 2.35. At 10.5 the line is nearly balanced, with the over at 2.08 and the under at 1.92.
One honest limit: I had no actual corner prices in this data, so these are benchmarks rather than a record of returns. A price above fair only has value if the historical rate still describes the team in front of you.
| Line | Over | 95% range | Fair over | Under | Fair under |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8.5 corners | 68.5% | ยฑ3.2 | 1.46 | 31.5% | 3.17 |
| 9.5 corners | 57.4% | ยฑ3.4 | 1.74 | 42.6% | 2.35 |
| 10.5 corners | 48.0% | ยฑ3.5 | 2.08 | 52.0% | 1.92 |
| 11.5 corners | 36.8% | ยฑ3.3 | 2.72 | 63.2% | 1.58 |
Fair odds = 1 รท observed rate, no margin. A price above fair has value only if the rate holds.
For my own use, the 9.5 under is the line I look at first. If a major bookmaker prices United games the way it prices the average Premier League match, the under side should drift slightly longer than United's own history justifies.
Exhibit CThe quietest stretch came in 2014/15โ2016/17
Each row here covers three seasons, 114 games apiece, and the shading shows how the over rates moved. Over 9.5 peaked at 63.2% in 2011/12โ2013/14, then dropped to 47.4% in 2014/15โ2016/17. That is the only spell where United games went under 9.5 more often than over.
The most recent block matters more to me than the long average. In 2023/24โ2025/26 over 10.5 landed in 53.5% of United games, compared with 49.1% back in 2005/06โ2007/08, so the current side has been producing busier matches than the long average suggests.

| 2014/15โ2016/17 (114) | 59.6% | 47.4% | 40.4% | 31.6% |
| 2017/18โ2019/20 (114) | 67.5% | 55.3% | 43.9% | 33.3% |
| 2020/21โ2022/23 (114) | 69.3% | 57.0% | 45.6% | 32.5% |
| 2023/24โ2025/26 (114) | 71.9% | 61.4% | 53.5% | 42.1% |
Corner counts follow the coach, the full-backs and the approach to possession, so the older rows describe a different team. I treat the full sample as the anchor and the latest block as the adjustment, not the other way round.
Exhibit DUnited games cluster at the low end more often
This chart breaks every match into bands of total corners. The most common band for United was 9โ10 corners at 20.6%, a little below the league's 22.4%. At the low extreme, 11.8% of United games had 6 corners or fewer against 10.7% across the league.
The high end barely differs: 14.0% of United games reached 15 or more, against 14.2% league-wide. So the shortfall at 9.5 does not come from missing blowout games. It comes from United games landing in the lower bands slightly more often.

| Premier League average | Manchester United games | |
|---|---|---|
| 6 or fewer (94 games) | 10.7% | 11.8% |
| 7โ8 (157 games) | 17.1% | 19.7% |
| 9โ10 (164 games) | 22.4% | 20.6% |
| 11โ12 (157 games) | 20.3% | 19.7% |
| 13โ14 (114 games) | 15.3% | 14.3% |
| 15 or more (112 games) | 14.2% | 14.0% |
For a bettor, that shape argues against chasing the higher totals as an under play. The difference sits around the middle lines, not in the tails.
Dossier verdict
Case closed- Start at the 9.5 line
Over 9.5 hit 57.4% in United games against 61.2% league-wide, the clearest gap in the file. Compare any under price against the fair 2.35.
- Treat 10.5 as balanced
Over 10.5 landed 48.0% of the time, fair at 2.08 against 1.92 for the under. The โ1.7 point gap to the league is too small to lean on alone.
- Weight the recent seasons
Over 10.5 reached 53.5% in 2023/24โ2025/26, busier than the long-run figure. Check whether the current squad still plays that way before trusting the full average.
