Real Madrid are favourites almost every week, so the 1X2 market tells a bettor very little. Correct Score asks a harder question: when they win, what does the scoreline usually look like? This file covers 760 La Liga matches across 20 seasons, from 2005/06 to 2025/26, and compares Real Madrid with every other top-flight side that carried the same win price at the same venue.
The headline is that Real Madrid do not grind out narrow wins the way their price suggests. The 1-0 win turns up 3.2 points less often than the same-price benchmark, while the 3-2 and the 4-1 each come in 1.8 points more often. This file is the background reading I keep open before I post anything on my correct score picks for today page.
Exhibit ATwo-goal wins lead Real Madrid's scoreline list
The 2-0 win is the single most common Real Madrid league score, at 88 of 760 matches, or 11.6%, which works out at fair odds of 8.64. The 2-1 win sits just behind at 10.9% (fair odds 9.16), with the 1-0 win a clear step down at 7.8% (fair odds 12.88).
The spread is wide. The ten scores on this chart cover 69.2% of matches, and the remaining 30.8% are scattered over 34 further scorelines. That long tail matters in this market, because a club this strong produces plenty of odd results that no shortlist will catch.
The ten scores shown cover 69.2% of matches.

| 1-1 draw | 7.4% |

| 4-1 win | 5.3% |
| 3-2 win | 4.7% |
| 0-0 draw | 4.6% |
| 1-2 defeat | 4.1% |
I notice how low the 1-1 draw and the 1-2 defeat sit. Most of the chart is made up of wins, which fits a side that won 69.7% of its league matches.
Exhibit BReal Madrid trade narrow 1-0s for open 3-2s and 4-1s
This chart answers the article's question directly. Each bar shows Real Madrid's share of a score minus the share for other clubs in 11 European top flights, at the same venue and in the same 5-point win-chance band. The 1-0 win is the biggest gap: 7.8% for Real Madrid against 11.0% for the benchmark.
On the other side, the 3-2 win lands 4.7% of the time against 2.9%, and the 4-1 win 5.3% against 3.5%. Both scorelines involve the opponent scoring too, which gives a picture of Real Madrid matches as more open than the price implies. Teams priced like them shut games down at 1-0 more often. Real Madrid tend to keep attacking and leave gaps behind.

| Real Madrid minus same-price teams | |
|---|---|
| 2-0 win | +0.3 pts |
| 2-1 win | +1 pts |
| 1-0 win | −3.2 pts |
| 1-1 draw | −0.9 pts |
| 3-0 win | −0.6 pts |
| 3-1 win | −0.9 pts |
| 4-1 win | +1.8 pts |
| 3-2 win | +1.8 pts |
| 0-0 draw | −0.4 pts |
The caveat applies most here. A single scoreline is a rare event, and with a few hundred matches a share near 10% carries a range of roughly ±2 to ±3 points either way. I read the 1-0 gap as a solid lean. I treat the 3-2 and 4-1 gaps as hints worth tracking, but I don't build a bet on them alone.
Exhibit CA quarter of Real Madrid matches end in three-goal wins
Of 530 league wins, 34.5% came by a single goal and 28.7% by two. The tail is heavy after that: three-goal wins make up 19.4%, four-goal wins 10.2% and wins by five or more 7.2%. Across all matches, Real Madrid won by three or more in 25.7% of fixtures.
For a Correct Score bettor, this explains why the 4-1 and the 3-0 belong on the radar more often than casual instinct suggests. A one-goal win is still the most common margin, but most of their wins come by two goals or more.

| Share of 530 league wins by winning margin | |
|---|---|
| Won by 1 | 34.5% |
| Won by 2 | 28.7% |
| Won by 3 | 19.4% |
| Won by 4 | 10.2% |
| Won by 5+ | 7.2% |
Clean sheets are less common than that dominance might suggest. Real Madrid won to nil in 33.7% of matches and kept a clean sheet in 38.3%. A lot of their wins come with a concession, which lines up with the 3-2 and 4-1 findings.
Exhibit DThe likeliest scoreline changes with Real Madrid's price
This heatmap is the part I return to most, because it shows how the scoreline profile shifts with the price. When Real Madrid's win chance was under 45%, across 102 matches, the 2-1 win was the most common score at 13.7%, and they lost 36.3% of those games. In the 60–75% band (264 matches) the 2-0 win led at 12.9%.
At 75%+ (240 matches), the 2-0 win rose to 13.3% and defeats fell to just 3.3%. Across the bands Real Madrid beat their price. They won 86.2% against 81.4% priced in the shortest band, 72.0% against 68.2% in the 60–75% band, and 42.2% against 35.7% when they were underdogs or close to it.

| Under 45% (n=102) | 8.8% | 13.7% | 5.9% | 9.8% | 2.0% | 3.9% | 1.0% | 36.3% |
| 45–60% (n=154) | 8.4% | 12.3% | 11.0% | 13.0% | 5.8% | 5.2% | 3.9% | 18.2% |
| 60–75% (n=264) | 12.9% | 12.9% | 8.0% | 5.7% | 5.7% | 5.7% | 6.4% | 13.3% |
| 75%+ (n=240) | 13.3% | 6.7% | 6.2% | 4.6% | 12.1% | 6.7% | 6.7% | 3.3% |
Overall they were given a 65.1% average win chance and won 69.7%, so the market has slightly underrated them. Correct-score prices themselves are not in this data, so I can't measure returns at real odds. Fair odds are the yardstick here.
Dossier verdict
Case closed- Price the 1-0 cautiously
Real Madrid won 1-0 in 7.8% of matches against a same-price benchmark of 11.0%, so the 1-0 needs generous odds before it interests me.
- Match score to price
When their win chance is under 45%, start from the 2-1 win (13.7%). At 75%+, the 2-0 win (13.3%) is the natural anchor.
- Cover the bigger margins
Wins by three or more came in 25.7% of all matches, so a 4-1 at 5.3% deserves a place in any spread of Real Madrid scores.
