Liverpool are a club where the half-time score tells you a great deal about the full-time one, and this file shows how much. It covers 798 Premier League matches across 21 seasons, split evenly between Anfield and away grounds. It sits behind every Liverpool pick on my half-time/full-time tips page.
The headline is simple. Liverpool held 87.8% of 337 half-time leads to win, against 75.9% for other Premier League clubs, and at home Win/Win came in 46.1% of matches. Away, that figure drops to 28.1%. It is still the most common outcome on the road, but anyone backing Away/Away is facing a very different proposition.
Exhibit AWin/Win dominates the grid at Anfield and away
The grid lays out all nine results, with each venue summing to 100%. Rows show the half-time state and columns show the final result, so the top-left cell is the Home/Home bet. At home, Win/Win sits at 46.1% and nothing else comes close. Draw/Win is next at 17%.
Away from Anfield the grid spreads out. Win/Win still leads at 28.1%, but Lose/Lose climbs to 18.3%, and Draw/Win matches its home figure at 17%. The top row thins and the bottom-right corner fills.
399 home and 399 away league matches. Row = half-time state, column = full-time result.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Led at HT | 46.1% | 4.8% | 0.3% | 28.1% | 4.0% | 1.3% |
| Level at HT | 17.0% | 14.5% | 4.8% | 17.0% | 15.3% | 8.8% |
| Behind at HT | 2.8% | 4.8% | 5.0% | 2.8% | 4.5% | 18.3% |
What strikes me is how rarely the top row leaks. A half-time lead became a defeat in 0.3% of home matches and 1.3% away. Comebacks from behind (Lose/Win) ran at 2.8% at both venues, just 11 matches each. Liverpool seldom flip a game in either direction, and the half-time shape usually holds.
Exhibit BLiverpool's home record set against the league home average
This chart compares each home HT/FT result for Liverpool with other Premier League sides playing at home. Liverpool's Win/Win stands at 46.1% (±4.9 points) against a league home average of 27.6%, and the 95% range sits well clear of that average. At the other end, Lose/Lose is 5.0% against 17.3%, the widest shortfall in the table.
The middle rows are where I slow down. Draw/Win at 17% against 15.1%, Draw/Draw at 14.5% against 14.8% and Lose/Win at 2.8% against 2.6% all sit close to the league. The Anfield edge comes from leading early, not from a special second-half gear.

| League average | Liverpool | 95% range | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Win/Win (184 of 399) | 27.6% | 46.1% | ±4.9 |
| Draw/Win (68 of 399) | 15.1% | 17.0% | ±3.7 |
| Lose/Win (11 of 399) | 2.6% | 2.8% | ±1.6 |
| Win/Draw (19 of 399) | 5.0% | 4.8% | ±2.1 |
| Draw/Draw (58 of 399) | 14.8% | 14.5% | ±3.5 |
| Lose/Draw (19 of 399) | 4.5% | 4.8% | ±2.1 |
| Win/Lose (1 of 399) | 2.1% | 0.3% | ±0.5 |
| Draw/Lose (19 of 399) | 10.8% | 4.8% | ±2.1 |
| Lose/Lose (20 of 399) | 17.3% | 5.0% | ±2.1 |
For a bettor, the home premium in this club's record is concentrated in one cell. Draw/Lose at 4.8% against 10.8% also shows how seldom a level game at Anfield slips away.
Exhibit COpponent strength changes how often Liverpool lead at the break
Splitting matches by the opponent's final table position changes the picture more than venue does. Against bottom-third clubs, Liverpool went Win/Win 46.8% of the time and lost 13.9% across 252 matches. Against the top third, it was 27.3% Win/Win and 28.1% defeats from 256 matches, with draws climbing to 29.3%.
The difference starts at half-time. Liverpool led at the break in 34.0% of matches against the top third and held 80.5% of those leads. Against the bottom third, they led in 50.0% and held 93.7%.
Final tables rebuilt from the season results (points per game).

| Win/Win | Won from level/behind | Draw | Lost | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| vs top third (n=256) | 27.3% | 15.2% | 29.3% | 28.1% |
| vs middle third (n=290) | 37.2% | 20.0% | 26.9% | 15.9% |
| vs bottom third (n=252) | 46.8% | 24.2% | 15.1% | 13.9% |
Liverpool hold leads well against every tier, but they lead far less often in the big fixtures. Against the middle third, Win/Win sat at 37.2%, a fair halfway house between the two.
Exhibit DWin/Win swings sharply from one season to the next
Season by season, Liverpool's Win/Win rate has ranged from 23.7% in 2011/12 to 60.5% in 2019/20, while the league average line barely moves. Each point rests on about 38 matches, so a handful of results shifts a season noticeably.
Even so, the club line sits above the league in every season shown. In 2025/26 it was 28.9% against a league figure of 22.2%.
About 38 matches per season, so single seasons swing widely.

| 2025/26 | 28.9% | 22.2% |
This is where my main caveat belongs. These are historical rates, not a betting system: squads and managers change, a pattern built over 21 seasons can fade, and the trailing-at-half-time rows rest on small samples. I treat the long-run figure as a starting point and let recent seasons tell me whether it still applies.
Dossier verdict
Case closed- Price Home/Home from history
At Anfield, Win/Win has landed in 46.1% of 399 matches. Fair odds are 1 divided by that rate, so I only consider Home/Home when the price sits above that break-even line.
- Demand more for Away/Away
Away from home, Win/Win falls to 28.1% and Lose/Lose rises to 18.3%. The road version needs a noticeably bigger price before it interests me.
- Check the opponent's tier
Against top-third sides, Liverpool led at half-time only 34.0% of the time. Against the bottom third it was 50.0%, with 93.7% of those leads held.
Questions bettors ask
How often do Liverpool win after leading at half-time?
Liverpool went on to win 87.8% of their 337 half-time leads, against 75.9% for other Premier League clubs. At home, a lead turned into defeat in only 0.3% of matches.
What is Liverpool's most common HT/FT result away from home?
Win/Win, at 28.1% of 399 away league matches. Lose/Lose is the next most frequent away result at 18.3%.
Do Liverpool often come from behind at half-time to win?
Rarely. Lose/Win landed in 2.8% of home matches and 2.8% away, 11 matches at each venue. Those trailing rows rest on smaller samples, so I treat them as rough guides.
